Death to plugins! Currently I have Silverlight for only two reasons: Netflix and xbox.com.

No problems losing the xbox.com functionality to uninstall Silverlight, but I <3 my Netflix too much.

Google FINALLY going back to the older favicon design.

Does anyone else think that the multicolored one was ugly as sin? The “g” wasn’t even legible. How the hell did that one last this long?

The newest version of Chrome Remote Desktop now supports the ability to register your own computers and then access them on the fly via Chrome without any more random number codes!

The new extension now installs a little program on your computer (sadly no Linux version yet) and then you are able to remotely view your computer via the internet from any other computer where you have logged into Chrome.

So far it has been working great for me, I was able to connect to my MacBook Pro via my Chromebook and it ran phenomenally. There was surprisingly very little lag and it seems to handle the fact that my MBP is much higher resolution than my Chromebook better than the previous version of the app. I highly recommend this web app, it’s available in the Chrome Web Store.

As mentioned on here before, this lawsuit is just stupid. Why should keeping songs on a server, as long as not shared, be any different than keeping them on an external hard drive?

Sad to hear MP3tunes couldn’t make it, hopefully Amazon will continue the fight to not need labels consent.

If you use Google Chrome and Gmail, and hate it when you click an email link and Apple Mail or Outlook opens instead of just using Gmail, here is how to get Gmail handling emails without the need for any extension or add-ons, it’s a built-in feature to Chrome!

UPDATE: This is now a built in feature to Gmail, just log in and a bar should appear at the top of Chrome!

Chrome for Android. I’m only just starting to mess around with it so far, but oh man is it awesome. Speaking of hardware acceleration from the last post, this app uses it to the max. Everything is smooth, flipping though tabs is a very neat feeling.

This is music to my ears, never did like the name Picasa. No idea why Pablo Picassa a painter, not photographer, was used. Wikipedia states that it was named after a combination of both Pablo Picassa and “mi casa” (my house) which doesn’t exactly make you slap your hand on your forehead and say “Oh wow, I can’t believe I didn’t realize that.” Granted, Wikipedia also says that one of my friends invented Windex, but I’ll have to trust it for Picasa.

Kudos to Amazon on this one, they apparently didn’t get permission from any of the record labels to store music on their servers and stream it to people as they like. Supposedly Apple and Google are having problems launching their own cloud music services because of the labels. (Man up Apple and Google, this should be a legal right.)

Amazon is going to get sued. They are essentially in the exact same position as MP3tunes Locker, where users upload files, then are able to listen to them by streaming them back over the web. No sharing with other people, literally nothing illegal, just using a hard drive online instead of plugged in to hold the music. MP3tunes getting sued (which started in 2007) really doesn’t get the amount of coverage it should. What is at stake here is the legal right to store your music online.

Should this really have taken YEARS to get? Hell no. Just about every assignment in high school and college had a page requirement. I would argue that this was the biggest thing holding Google Docs back from replacing Word for the average student. It creates a weird feeling as you type on an infinite sheet of paper. But can’t be mad now, as it’s just a Google’s beta period away. OH GOD.
